The Smart Fortwo electric drive convertible/coupe has topped the "Greenest List" of vehicles by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) for the second straight year, the council has announced.

Rounding out the rest of the list were the Chevrolet Spark EV, Fiat 500e, Toyota Prius C, Nissan LEAF, Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid, Lexus CT 200H, Honda Civic Hybrid, Honda Civic Natural Gas, Mitsubishi Mirage, Ford Focus Electric, and Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid.

ACEEE assigned each vehicle a Green Score — a single measure that incorporates life-cycle greenhouse gas and criteria pollutant emissions, fuel cell vehicle analysis, and an estimate of nuclear damage costs.

Green Scores of the 1,000-plus configurations of all 2015 model-year vehicles are available for free in the greenercars.org interactive database, along with each configuration’s fuel economy, health-related pollution impacts, and greenhouse gas emissions. The list is now in its 18th year.
