California Agency Creates Online Oil Change Interval Guide

SACRAMENTO – The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) has developed a website that allows users to look up an OEM’s recommended oil-change interval for vehicles, www.CheckYourNumber.org. The site asks for a vehicle’s make, model, and year before providing the recommendation. Using the site is free.

Fleet managers interested in finding recommended oil-change interval information can quickly look up vehicle-specific information, which makes it easier to benchmark oil-change related costs based on manufacturer recommendations.

Also related to oil changes, some fleets are seeing as much as a 20% discount in the cost of synthetic oils by working with certain national providers, according to a recent news story on oil-drain intervals.

You can also read Automotive Fleet's article with data from the magazine's annual maintenance costs survey here.
