General Motors and the automotive division of IMPCO Technologies are recalling 1,791 2011-2013 model-year Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana Cargo vans that have a compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel system installed as original equipment by IMPCO.

The fuel systems, manufactured Feb. 14, 2011, through February 20, 2013, have a fuel shut-off solenoid connector to the CNG tank that may corrode and form a short, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported. Because a short at the connector may cause overheating, the condition increases the risk of fire.

To remedy the problem, dealers or fleets can replace the solenoid assemblies and fuel pump fuses and adjust the wiring routing.

An owner notification schedule has not yet been provided. GM's number for this recall is 13139. IMPCO’s recall number is FA13GM001.

Fleet managers can reach the GM Fleet Action Center at 1-800-353-3867.
