Driver and sales workers experienced the highest fatal work injuries in 2014, according to preliminary data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI). Approximately 835 sales workers and truck drivers died from fatal injuries.  

The CFOI's preliminary total of 4,679 job-related deaths for civilian workers was recorded in 2014.

Additionally, approximately 1,289 deaths were reported in 2014 for jobs in transportation and material moving. The production, transportation, and material moving occupations category experienced an 8.7 percent fatal work injury rate. 

Revised 2014 data will be released in 2016.
