The 2013-MY Hyundai Sonata

Hyundai added new standard features to its 2013-MY Sonata, including heated seats as standard equipment on all models and option packages (except the base GLS model) and new sunroof choices for the Sonata Limited. The Sonata GLS with the Popular Equipment Package will see the addition of fog lights and heated front seats.

For 2013, the Sonata is powered by the company’s direct-injection Theta II GDI 2.4L four-cylinder engine. Fuel economy is at 24 mpg city/35 mpg highway when matched to the company’s SHIFTRONIC six-speed transmission. Another engine option is the 2.0L Theta II turbocharged GDI engine, which gets 22 mpg city and 34 mpg highway and can produce 274 hp and 269 lb.-ft of torque. The 2.0T engine is available on the SE and Limited trim levels.

Safety technologies on the 2013-MY Sonata include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), six standard airbags, four-wheel disc brakes and an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), including Brake Assist and Electronic Brake-force Distribution. Other safety features include shingle-style rear-seat head restraints for improved driver visibility, three-point seatbelts for all seating positions, front-seat seatbelt pretensioners and force limiters, and a rear-seat Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) system for child seats.
