GM’s Buick Brand is introducing the latest edition of its LaCrosse at the New York International Auto Show. According to Buick, the key new features in the vehicle include exterior and interior design updates, the IntelliLink system with a standard 8-inch display, and new radar-based safety features.

For 2014, Buick said it changed the LaCrosse’s styling in the front and back, with signature wing-shape LED daytime running lamps and LED wraparound tail lamps.

Inside, the interior has new seats with enhanced materials, a redesigned central instrument panel and console, and a new available Ultra Luxury Interior package. The previously mentioned IntelliLink system features natural voice recognition. The new luxury interior package features a Sangria seat color with ebony accents, semi-aniline leather seats and trim, and Shadow Tamo Ash wood décor. The package also features synthetic suede on the headliner and door pillars.

Performance-wise, the 2014 LaCrosse comes in front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions. Buick gives customers two powertrains to choose from, a 2.4L engine with GM’s eAssist light electrification technology, or a 3.6L direct-injected V-6. The automaker matched each engine with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The 2014 Buick LaCrosse’s new safety features include Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Change Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Automatic Collision Preparation. The automaker said its Safety Alert Seat technology works with these different systems, and will vibrate the driver’s seat in the direction of a potential crash threat.

Buick said it enhanced the LaCrosse's interior materials for MY-2014.
