Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) has announced sales figures for the month of October. Subaru recorded a sales total of 14,946 units for the month, an increase of 7 percent from the same period in 1999. Subaru continues to post strong sales increases, with year-to-date totals of 143,244 units, up 11 percent from 1999 year-to-date totals of 129,517. This marks the company's best October total sales month since 1987. Outback, Legacy and Forester enjoyed strong sales results, with each model achieving its best October total sales month ever. The Legacy model line led sales with 8,357 units posted, up 4 percent from October 1999 sales totals. Outback accounted for 6,070 units for the month, up 10 percent from October 1999. Strong demand for the Subaru Forester continued with sales of 4,969 units for the month, up 19 percent from 1999 totals for the same period. Additionally, Impreza sales for October totaled 1,620 units, with Impreza sedan and coupe sales up 33 and 19 percent, respectively. "October was a great month for Subaru, with Outback, Legacy and Forester recording their best October sales results in history," said Subaru of America, Inc. Executive Vice President Fred Adcock. "We anticipate continued sales momentum with the arrival of the 2001 Legacy Outback H-6 models in showrooms this month." All Legacy and Outback models sold in the United States are produced at the Subaru-Isuzu Automotive Inc. manufacturing plant near Lafayette, Ind.
