Remember the high-tech, futuristic spy cars from those secret agent movies? Well, they might just be closer to reality than you think thanks to Visteon Corporation. Visteon Corporation, the world's second largest supplier of integrated automotive systems, showcased some of its innovative products and technologies at the 2001 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nev., Jan. 6 - 9, 2001. Some of the products on display included: a dynamic seat system to help keep drivers and passengers in their optimal positions; a DVD Rear Seat Entertainment System with overhead flip-down display, wireless headsets and infrared remote control; a High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting feature to better illuminate the road in all weather; and Visteon Voice Technology(TM), which provides consumers with an interactive link between home, office and vehicle by using "text-to-speech" technology -- which reads you your e-mail messages, stock quotes or other Internet information. Additionally, with Visteon Voice Technology(TM), drivers can now control basic vehicle functions including climate control, windows, cellular phone, navigation systems, and much more, while keeping their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel. In the case of an accident, sensors can detect the severity of an impact for more immediate airbag deployment. Lastly, innovations in fingerprint identification provide a personalized level of access to your vehicle. And a small electronic device housed in a wristwatch, for example, can activate a hands-free entry system.
