Visteon Corporation has announced that it has secured a contract to supply its Visteon Voice Technology(TM) for the 2002 Infiniti Q45 Sedan. "We're excited about this contract with Infiniti. It's a big step in diversifying our customer base," said Michael Johnston, Visteon president and chief operating officer. "Visteon Voice Technology(TM) allows drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road while using simple voice commands to control the navigation, audio, phone (available in the fall), and climate control systems of the vehicle." According to Johnston, Visteon Voice Technology(TM) understands continuous and natural patterns of speech without the need to be trained to one voice and confirms the driver's commands. Drivers activate the system by pressing the voice button, located on the steering wheel, to obtain voice control of several functions within the vehicle interior. Visteon Voice Technology(TM) in the Infiniti Q45 enables drivers to control audio, climate control, cellular phone (available in the fall) and navigation systems with simple voice commands. The 2002 Infiniti Q45 was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show, on Jan. 9, 2001. The vehicle is scheduled to hit showrooms in April.
