LeasePlan USA, the nation's second largest vehicle management company, on July 9 announced the promotion of John Claybrooks to senior vice president, sales and chief marketing officer of LeasePlan USA's corporate fleet division. Alpharetta, Ga.-based LeasePlan USA leases and manages fleets of cars and trucks to companies throughout the United States. Claybrooks joined LeasePlan in 2000 as vice president of business transformation and integration. In this role he steered the company's business transformation and integration process for LeasePlan's acquisition last year of Chicago-based Consolidated Service Corporation (CSC). Among Claybrooks' responsibilities in his new role are to lead the development of the company's sales and marketing objectives, establish marketing and sales intelligence systems and maintain and strengthen relationships with key U.S. customers. He will oversee a marketing and sales staff of more than 70 employees. "John's leadership capabilities and change management skills were instrumental in the successful and seamless integration process of LeasePlan's recent CSC acquisition," said Dave Dahm, president and CEO of LeasePlan USA. "His understanding of the business and all the processes associated with the business has convinced not only myself but other senior management personnel that this promotion is well deserved." Claybrooks joined LeasePlan USA from a former position with IBM, where he worked with LeasePlan globally on e-business implementation and improving workflow processes. While at IBM he also held a position as an e-business marketing manager developing marketing strategies for IBM's e-business initiatives. He began his career in sales and marketing with Proctor & Gamble. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee and a masters degree from Vanderbilt University. Claybrooks also holds a law degree from Emory University with additional certification from Harvard University.
