Honda Awarded Top Marks in IntelliChoice's Rating of Best Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Programs

October 23, 2001

For the third consecutive year, Honda has the best certified used car program of any non-luxury company, according to the third annual ranking of certified pre-owned vehicle programs by IntelliChoice, an independent, third-party automotive consulting firm. Honda's program also earned IntelliChoice's award for having the best warranty for pre-owned vehicles for the second straight year.

"More than 80 percent of the buyers of certified pre-owned Honda vehicles are buying a Honda for the first time," said Jeff Conrad, assistant vice president of dealer relations at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "We consider used cars as a key entry to the Honda family, so it's important for us to have the best used car program and the best used car warranty."

The IntelliChoice survey is designed to rate how vehicle manufacturers meet customer expectations for quality pre-owned cars. Pre-owned vehicle programs are judged according to their inspection lists, warranties, roadside assistance benefits and return/exchange guidelines, and IntelliChoice determines which programs provide the most benefits to the customer.

The 23 different certified pre-owned vehicle programs have been divided in two divisions-Luxury and Non-Luxury-as target consumers vary between the two classes.

Founded in 1986, IntelliChoice is commited to empowering consumers to make better purchase decisions by providing independent and essential automotive information and tools. Consumers can access the comprehensive research compiled by the company at www.intellichoice.com.
