Autocar Launches Dealer Network

November 1, 2001

Autocar LLC has created a new dealer network. The company has signed agreements with Houston-based Lone Star Truck Center, the Oakland Truck Center of Oakland, CA, Chicago Truck Center of Chicago, and General GMC & Volvo Trucks of Palm Beach, FL, to market the Xpeditor, a class 8 low-cab-over-engine truck used mainly for refuse hauling.

According to Bob Enright, president of Autocar, dealers in the Autocar network are selected based on their service suport and expertise in selling the Xpeditor truck.

"As a new company, Autocar is committed to carrying on the rich heritage of its name," said Enright. "The Xpeditor is a rock-solid truck, and we've hand-picked dealers who are proven industry professionals with excellent service reputations."

As a medium-and heavy-duty full service dealership, the Lone Star Truck Center is a nationally ranked top volume dealer in both Volvo and GMC trucks. General GMC & Volvo Trucks of Palm Beach, Chicago Truck Center and the Oakland Truck Center boast solid reputations for quality customer service and high sales volume.

"We're extremely pleased Autocar bought the Xpeditor line from Volvo," said Joe Chastang, owner, Lone Star Truck Center. "Trucks are Autcar's business and our business. It's good to know they understand trucks and will concentrate on the Xpeditor."

"At the Oakland Truck Center, we are excited to be part of the new Autocar dealer network," said Jack Kane, owner, Oakland Truck Center. "After many years of building and serving the loyal customers for the Xpeditor product, this commitment by Autocar will set the stage for many more years of success. Autocar brings a highly recognized vocational brand for quality, durability, and support to this great product and its many customers."

Autocar LLC was formed in July 2001, when parent company Grand Vehicle Works Holdings LLC purchased the Autocar name and the Xpeditor truck line from Volvo Trucks North America, Inc. Autocar anticipates signing more dealerships to the network soon.

As the oldest vehicle nameplate in continuous production in the United States, Autocar is synonymous in the truck industry with product quality, particularly for vocational applications.
