Comworxx, Inc. Introduces In-Vehicle Communications System At NADA 2002 Exposition

Visitors to the National Automobile Dealers Association's (NADA)85th Annual Convention and Exposition were among the first toexperience a new mobile communications tool developed specifically forautomotive use. According to Comworxx, Port-IT is an in-car telematics solution withvoice-activated telephone dialing, dynamic turn-by-turn navigation,and hands-free personalized information access; when combined with acommon Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), even more advanced servicesare available.

Following a launch at the 2002 Consumer ElectronicsShow, Port-IT is now available to retailers and automotive dealersnationwide.

According to Comworxx, Port-IT offers the only complete telematics solution available forthe aftermarket. This means that consumers can access Port-IT'sservices without having to buy one of the limited number of car modelsavailable with a pre-installed system.

Port-IT uses telematics technology - two-waycommunications that relay information to and from a vehicle, combiningthe latest advancements in GPS, mobile communications and Web-basedinformation systems. Port-IT gives drivers a hands-freeinformation source, phone, roadside assistance and emergency services.Adding a Windows CE-based PDA gives subscribers additionalservices, such as the ability to use their existing address book for aPDA-based phone dialer, and access to turn-by-turn navigationservices.

At MyPortIT.com, customers can personalize Port-IT services, suchas designating a default "starting point" for services such asdirections and local weather forecasts, or choosing a portfolio ofstocks for regular updates. The portal also containsdirections and voice commands for accessing a wide variety ofinformation - from local business listings to the latest movie plots.
