If you own a 1991 Toyota Camry or any Honda Accord, beware. For the fifth consecutive year, the '91 Camry was the vehicle auto thieves targeted most, according to CCC Information Services Inc. The Honda Accord was the brand of car stolen most regardless of model year. Overall, however, vehicle thefts declined 2.7 percent last year, according to CCC Information Services, the Chicago-based technology company that provides software and information services about auto claims to insurers and repair facilities. Auto thieves definitely prefer Japanese passenger cars, with Toyota and Honda brands occupying 16 of the top 20 spots, but when it comes to pickups and sport utility vehicles, they preferred American brands, according to CCC. Thefts of full-sized models and "muscle cars," like the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro, continue to drop, reflecting their fall-off in popularity with consumers. Michigan holds the highest theft rate in the United States, but domestic cars -- not imports -- are the favorite targets there.
