Navigation Technologies Welcomes New Vice President, General Manager

Navigation Technologies, a provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation, Internet/wirelessapplications and business solutions announced Oct. 1 the appointment of RobertP. Denaro as vice president and general manager of its North American BusinessSolutions Unit. Denaro will leverage his extensive background in thepositioning, location and mapping industry to expand Navigation Technologies'business in the GIS, Fleet and Enterprise markets. He will be based in thecompany's Chicago headquarters and will report to John MacLeod, executive vicepresident, North America and World Markets. "Navigation Technologies sees the importance of the GIS, Fleet andEnterprise markets, and the addition of Bob Denaro to our senior managementteam will help us bolster our presence in each of those segments," saidMacLeod. "Bob has nearly three decades of experience and we will look to hisstrategic leadership and vast industry knowledge to expand and improve ouroperations. Bob will be a tremendous asset to our organization." Denaro joins Navigation Technologies from Rand McNally & Co., where he wassenior vice president, general manager of Global Business Solutions,responsible for a broad range of business-to-business applications andconsumer technology products and services, including the Internet and fourdiverse businesses. "I am excited to join Navigation Technologies at a time when navigation,location-based services and location-aware enterprise solutions are coming ofage," said Denaro. "With our nationwide continental U.S. coverage andextensive integration tools, I look forward to help our enterprise customersrealize fast returns on investment with spatial data." Prior to joining Rand McNally, Denaro was vice president and director ofMotorola's Consumer Telematics Products, a division he launched after fiveyears heading the company's GPS business. The unit introduced the firstintegration of wireless data cellular phones, GPS and real-time computationthat included automotive standards. Earlier in his career, Denaro launched Trimble Navigation's FleetManagement and Vehicle Tracking Division and served as co-founder and vicepresident of TAU Corporation, an industrial software products company. Hestarted his career in the United States Air Force, where he served for nineyears, the last of which were in the Research and Development GlobalPositioning System Joint Program Office as a USAF Captain. Denaro holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Sciences (Astronautics)from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a Master's degree in Electrical Engineeringfrom the USAF Institute of Technology and a Master's degree in SystemsManagement from the University of Southern California.
