American Honda posted new records for total vehicle and light truck sales in February, with total vehicle sales of 98,809 up 7.8 percent from the record previously set in 2001 and light trucks sales of 38,571 up 32.9 percent from last year’s record, according to figures released by American Honda Motor Co., Inc. Acura MDX sales of 4,514 broke the preceding February record set in 2002 by 3.4 percent, with year-to-date sales of 8,325 up 6.9 percent. Along with the MDX, sales of the Honda Element with 5,510 and the Honda Pilot with 7,534 helped drive the record-breaking month. Honda Division sales of 87,486 were up 18.3 percent, breaking the previous record set in 2001 by 10,120 units. Year-to-date Honda sales were 167,398, an increase of 14.1 percent. Light truck sales broke last year’s record with sales of 34,057 units, up 27.7 percent. Sales of the Civic were up 10.3 percent to 23,421, while the newly-redesigned Accord posted sales of 29,335, a 9.7 percent increase. Both vehicles’ year-to-date sales were up, with the Accord sales of 56,784 showing an increase of 7.8 percent and the Civic sales rising 7.5 percent to 44,155 units.
