Ohioans are getting a break on their auto insurance premiums, reports Associated Press. After three years of steady rate increases, the state’s largest insurers are either cutting premiums or holding rates steady. State Farm cut its premium an average of 4.1 percent in March. Nationwide cut its rate an average of 1.7 percent. State Farm is reducing rates because claims per policy are falling, according to AP. This is partly because Americans own so many vehicles, meaning each vehicle is driven fewer miles. And that reduces the claims risk. Ohio Insurance Director Ann Womer Benjamin says Ohio has the 16th lowest insurance rates in the nation.
