OnStar Integrates Verizon Service For Hands-Free Calls

July 15, 2004

OnStar, the in-vehicle communication service, is integrating Verizon Wireless' hand-held wireless service into its fully embedded, voice-activated phone service. Drivers just have to push a few buttons on their wireless phones and calls will be forwarded to the OnStar service's phone in their vehicle. Making calls is simple and hands-free as well by just dialing a voice-activated number and talking freely without holding a phone. Even the billing is simple - all calls in or out of the vehicle are available on your normal wireless plan and added to your monthly bill. Manufacturers hope this new in-vehicle service will make talking on the phone as easy as talking to someone sitting right next to you.
