Interface is the worldwide leader in design, production and sales of modular carpet and a leading manufacturer and marketer of broadloom carpet, panel fabrics and upholstery fabrics. Headquartered in Atlanta, Interface has manufacturing locations on four continents and offices in more than 100 countries. More information is found on www.interfaceinc.com In business for more than 30 years, Interface is a leader in industrial ecology. With the vision of becoming the world's first environmentally restorative company by 2020, Interface is pioneering management and manufacturing processes that will achieve this goal. Beginning this month, Interface has joined forces with Subaru of America to help us further our progress towards our transportation-related sustainability goals in pursuit of Mission Zero. As a result of our common vision towards the environment, Subaru is partnering with American Forests to plant 60 trees for every car they deliver to us. This arrangement will offset the carbon dioxide emissions associated with driving the cars, making our associates' operation of the vehicles climate neutral. This arrangement represents the first such attempt by a car manufacturer to offer climate neutral driving to its customers. This partnership will help us reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with our light duty fleet thereby reducing our footprint on the environment. As a result of this new partnership, Interface's account executives will now have the option of selecting the Subaru Outback Limited Wagon 2.5i, a SmartWay certified vehicle, as their next vehicle of choice, when the current leases expire. The SmartWay certification, granted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, is earned by those light-duty vehicles that the EPA considers to be the cleanest and most fuel-efficient vehicles when evaluating both Air Pollution and Greenhouse Gas emissions. The decision to add the Subaru Outback Wagon Limited 2.5i to Interface's Light Duty fleet was driven by the following factors:
  • The Outback provides an "environmentally friendly" All Wheel Drive (AWD) solution.
  • The Outback is highly rated for safety, achieving a 5-star crash rating.
  • In 2006, the Subaru Outback Wagon Limited 2.5i was the highest rated small SUV by the EPA in their Green Vehicle Guide. http://www.epa.gov/emissweb/ The Outback Wagon Limited 2.5i comes with a very long list of standard features, including:
  • 175-hp, 2.5-liter Boxer Engine
  • Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive
  • Leather-trimmed upholstery with 4-stage heated front seats
  • Remote keyless entry system
  • 120-watt 6-speaker audio system and 6-disc in-dash CD
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control system
  • Panoramic-tilt sliding dual-panel moonroof For more information on the Outback Limited Wagon, visit http://www.subaru.com/shop/overview.jsp?model=OUTBACK&trim=25I_WAGON&command=overview We are excited that Interface will have such a strong transportation partner in Subaru who shares our concern for the environment and our overall goals for sustainability. So, look for the Subaru option for your available car choices when your lease expires, and we welcome your ongoing feedback. The addition of the Subaru Outback Ltd (PZEV) to their North American Fleet will help Interface achieve their MISSION ZERO GOAL: "To be the first company that, by its deeds, shows the entire industrial world what sustainability is in all its dimensions: People, process, product, place and profits - by 2020 - and in doing so we will become restorative through the power of influence." Additionally, every unit purchased by Interface involves a commitment to plant 60 trees in conjunction with American Forests. As a result, Subaru is offering a CLIMATE NEUTRAL DRIVING EXPERIENCE for each unit in operation.
