The cab of the future will begin picking up passengers next week, the New York Daily News reports. The New York Taxi and Limousine Commission unveiled a new cab with features that allow passengers to: - watch digital television monitors with access to network news, entertainment and sports, as well as research points of interest. - view an electronic map of their journey. - pay by credit or debit card with an interactive screen, including tip calculations. The Taxi and Limousine Commission mandated the upgrades after the fare hike in 2004. Of course, advertising packages are available.
