Navistar Resumes Engine Shipments

March 8, 2007

Navistar International Corp. has resumed production and shipment of their Power Stroke Diesel Engine, which is used in Ford’s heavy-duty F-Series trucks, Associated Press reports.Navistar recently stopped all shipments to Ford after Ford said they would be withholding some of their payments to recoup the costs of a recall, which Ford alleges Navistar did not pay their share of. As a result of Navistar’s boycott, Ford had to shut down their Louisville, Ky., plant, which makes F-Series “Super Duty” trucks, the top-selling series in the United States last year. A hearing held Feb. 28, before an Oakland County Circuit Court Judge ordered Navistar to resume shipments of their engines, and another hearing was held Wednesday, March 7, to encourage both sides to settle the dispute. Both sides predicted that an agreement could be reached by as soon as Thursday afternoon, Associated Press reports.
