AUBURN HILLS, MI – Chrysler announced that in late December, 2011, it conducted fuel-economy testing on a pre-production version of its upcoming 2013-MY Dodge Dart. The compact sedan achieved an mpg of 40 in the tests. Chrysler said the vehicle is “redefining performance in the compact car segment and delivering world-class aerodynamics.”

Chrysler stated in the update on the Dart's fuel-economy performance that Fiat S.p.A.’s ownership percentage is now at 58.5% after having achieved the final of three performance-related milestones.

In other related upcoming vehicle news, the automaker said it plans to build a diesel version of its Jeep Grand Cherokee at its Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit.
