Ford Motor Co. is recalling 43,135 2013-2014 model-year Ford Fusion, Escape, C-Max and Lincoln MKZ vehicles so dealers can replace the seatback assemblies, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports.

The driver and passenger seatback assemblies may have substandard weld joints attaching the seatback recliner mechanism to the seat frame, NHTSA said. As a result, the back of these seats may become loose or lean while the car is being driven.

Ford dealers will replace the seatback assemblies, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin around May 19.

Vehicle owners can reach Ford at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14C03.
