Ford Motor Co. is recalling 6,308 2012-2013 model-year Focus battery electric vehicles and 2013 model-year Focus ST vehicles so that dealers can address a potential problem involving the high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, incompatible wiring may cause the front side marker lamps to fail. To resolve the issue, Ford dealers will modify the headlamp assembly wiring, free of charge.

The recall affects HID headlight-equipped 2012-2013 Ford Focus electric vehicles manufactured Sept. 15, 2011 through May 6, 2013, as well as HID headlight-equipped 2013 Ford Focus ST vehicles manufactured Feb. 16, 2012 through May 7, 2013.

Vehicle owners can reach Ford at 1-866-436-7332.
