The national average retail price of gasoline ticked up 0.1 cent to $3.332 a gallon for the week ending Monday, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said.

For the week ending Jan. 6, prices remained at their highest leve since Oct. 21. The current price is 3.3 cents higher than it was a year ago. The daily average price of gasoline reached $3.317 a gallon according to the AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report. Montana held the lowest average price at $3.001, while Hawaii topped the price chart at $3.959 a gallon.

Meanwhile, the national average price of diesel fell 0.7 cent to $3.91 per gallon. Diesel is now 0.1 cent lower than it was a year ago.
