Since driver error is responsible for about 90 percent of all traffic crashes, fleet drivers need to master the fundamentals of defensive driving.

For example, it’s important for drivers to leave plenty of space between their vehicle and other nearby vehicles, just in case anyone brakes or changes lanes abruptly. Maintaining a safe speed is also crucial. 

A defensive driver never assumes the other drivers on the road are 100-percent attentive and will always do the right thing. He or she drives with an extra measure of caution.
