Hyundai will unveil a new subcompact SUV called the Kona this summer as the automaker moves to compete in the growing "B-segment" of smaller compact SUVs, Hyundai has announced.
The Hyundai Kona, which has not been given a model-year designation, has been named after the district in Hawaii. It follows the company's SUV naming convention of using travel destinations for vehicle names.
It will arrive with a cascading grille, LED daytime running lights, and LED headlights. More details will be released this summer.
The Hyundai Kona would likely compete with the 2018 Toyota C-HR, 2018 Ford EcoSport, Buick Encore, Chevrolet Trax, Nissan Rogue Sport, Mazda CX-3, and Jeep Renegade.
