Commercial and fleet customers who purchase a Ford vehicle with SYNC Connect will be able to access Telogis telematics services through the vehicle, the telematics vendor announced at its Latitude conference.

Customers who order the 2018 F-150 with Sync Connect can easily connect their vehicles to existing accounts with Ford Telematics or Telogis, a Verizon company.

"Ford commercial customers are hard-working and their vehicles are important tools for their success," said Michael Seneski, director of Ford Commercial Solutions. "By accessing these services from Telogis through SYNC Connect, they can transform the way they monitor and optimize their fleets."

The capability will soon be made available in other commercial Ford vehicles including Super Duty, Transit and Transit Connect. Ford will embed telematics across its entire lineup in the U.S. by the 2019 model year and 90% of its global lineup by the 2020-MY, CEO Jim Hackett has said.

Customers also can choose to have Ford Telematics factory-installed in current Ford commercial vehicles.

Telogis will provide access to its Mobile Resource Management software platform, so fleet managers can obtain vehicle location, driver behavior, navigation, route planning and optimization, and compliance solutions.

"The addition of connectivity in Ford commercial vehicles provides value for customers that goes way beyond owning a great truck," said Susan Heystee, senior vice president of worldwide OEM sales at Telogis. "Once Ford customers are connected to the Telogis platform through SYNC Connect, it’s like turning the lights on and getting insight into every aspect of their mobile business."
