Fleet FAQ

Fleet FAQ? Fuel Management

Q. How is connected-car technology expected to change the driving experience?

A. The in-vehicle technology now available has ushered in a paradigm shift in the way we view cars — no longer just as a means of transportation or as an asset, but as an information platform. You still need to pump your own fuel, but with connected vehicle technology, we can make it faster, more convenient and seamless.

Imagine an intuitive payment process where you pull into a fuel station, the car “senses” a pump is available, you select a fuel option and pump number from the on-screen dash display, and it activates to dispense fuel. Or consider what it would be like to have a connected car traveling to a supply store to provision your workers during their lunch hour, optimizing that downtime.

These are the creative and innovative development approaches we’re taking in active consultation with our partners and customers: ensuring that the connected car or vehicle can create an electronic safety net for companies and give drivers easier, efficient access to the resources they need, from inside their vehicles.
