The next two vehicle model cycles -- 2003 and 2004 -- will be marked by color offerings in wild shades of yellow and orange, according to the Detroit News. "People get bored with silver after a period of time," said Margaret Hackstedde, DaimlerChrysler Group director of color, fabric and mastering design. "Orange and yellow are strong on the West Coast right now. You're going to see us offer orange on some of our vehicles later in the 2003 model year. It fits well with bold, impactful vehicle designs with sporty character." For automakers, the right color offerings can make or break a sale -- up to 40 percent of car shoppers are ready to switch brands if they can't get the exterior color they desire, according to the News.
