Thornton Oil Corp., a Kentucky-based operator of convenience stores and fuel centers, has announced it will now accept the Wright Express Universal Fleet Card at its nearly 160 locations. The agreement gives Wright Express, a provider of fleet fueling cards and fleet management services, access to the Thornton stations in Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Connecticut. Thornton Oil is a privately held company with more than $900 million in annual revenues. In addition to its convenience store and fueling locations, it operates a travel plaza, car washes and a petroleum products distribution company. South Portland-based Wright Express is a provider of fleet charge cards to the fleet maintenance and fueling industry with its cards accepted at more than 160,000 locations. Wright Express also provides information management, payment processing, and financial services to fleets through card partnerships with oil companies and fleet management companies. Through its own universal fleet card program, its partners' card programs and its MasterCard program, Wright Express says it has nearly four million commercial cards in its markets.
