Airbiquity announced that it is teaming up with OnStar to facilitate delivery of its
in-vehicle safety, security and information services.
Airbiquity's aqLink(TM) software will be installed beginning this
year on vehicles equipped with the OnStar telematics system. The
aqLink software will enhance OnStar's ability to transmit data over
most wireless air interfaces. OnStar subscribers have access to a
variety of real-time location based services, including automatic
notification of air bag deployment, stolen vehicle location, remote
door unlock, emergency services, roadside assistance, remote
diagnostics, route support and concierge services.
"For both business and pleasure, Americans are spending more and
more time on the road. This relationship will help OnStar meet the
growing consumer demand for telematics services while making driving a
safer and more enjoyable experience," said Dan Allen, president and
chief executive of Airbiquity. "The fact that Airbiquity's aqLink
technology operates with virtually all wireless networks opens up new
opportunities for OnStar."
OnStar services are standard or available as an extra feature on a
wide variety of vehicles from Acura, Audi, Isuzu, Lexus (via
LexusLink), Subaru and General Motors, which includes Buick, Cadillac,
Chevrolet, GMC, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saab and Saturn.
