According to DaimlerChrysler, the 5.9-liter Standard Output Cummins Diesel, delivering up to 460 lb.-ft. of torque and up to 250 horsepower, is now certified as a low emission engine. According to the company, the Cummins diesel has average major overhaul intervals of 350,000 miles, providing a substantial advantage over the competition. The 5.9-liter Cummins inline six has 25 to 30 percent fewer parts than typical V-8 diesels, which means added durability and better reliability. Plus, this engine is available in the all-new 2003 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty 2500 pickup which won Motor Trend magazine's Truck of the Year award.
