Trimble says it has introduced a new feature as part of its Telvisant™ Fleet Management System--DriveSafe reporting. The new DriveSafe reporting feature, developed with McNeilus Companies Inc., provides ready-mix fleet owners and managers with indicators of unsafe driving behavior that could lead to truck rollovers, says the company. The announcement was made at the World of Concrete, the industry's largest annual commercial construction show. According to the company, the new Telvisant DriveSafe reporting feature uses Global Positioning System (GPS) technology and a speedometer sensor to gather vital driving statistics. The new proprietary report provides the information necessary to spot driving tendencies and patterns that can potentially lead to rollovers. Ready mix trucks can roll over – or tip – if a driver turns too sharply or quickly. The driver safety report summarizes data on hard turns, hard starts, hard braking and speeding, both while loaded and unloaded. Operation managers can compare individualized driver performance against fleet standards and use the data to train and counsel their drivers to avoid rollovers and accidents and to enhance safety. Trimble and McNeilus Trimble and McNeilus formed a strategic alliance in March of 2002 to offer the Trimble Telvisant fleet management solution as a factory-installed and aftermarket option on McNeilus' ready mix concrete trucks. The system is being marketed, distributed and sold through McNeilus' sales channel. About the Trimble Telvisant Fleet Management System The Trimble Telvisant system is a complete solution that includes hardware, wireless connectivity, software and service.
