Trendar, a point-of-sale payment device at truck stops and travel plazas, has announced it will now process Wright Express cards, expanding the presence of Wright Express at these locations and boosting the company's drive to penetrate the heavy truck market. Wright Express, a provider of fleet card services, anticipates that the Trendar system will begin processing its Wright Express Universal and Cobrand fleet cards during the first quarter of this year. According to the company, Trendar's ability to process Wright Express cards will make it easier for truckers to buy fuel using Wright Express cards and will make it easier for truck stop operators to accept and process them. Acceptance through the Trendar system will help augment an existing nationwide network of retail diesel fueling sites - more than 45,000 locations - that already accept Wright Express cards. "Gaining access to the Trendar system is an important step in our efforts to expand our presence in the heavy truck market," said Michael Dubyak, president of Wright Express. "Trendar is the dominant processing system used by truckers to process their fleet card transactions. This agreement will make it easier for us to gain access to truck stops and travel plazas by making it easier for operators to accept and process our cards." Wright Express is actively moving to gain market share in the heavy truck market and expects to make several announcements regarding this effort during the next few weeks. The company plans to build on its experience in the light and medium truck markets to develop a strong heavy truck program. South Portland-based Wright Express is a provider of fleet charge cards to the fleet maintenance and fueling industry with its cards accepted at more than 160,000 locations. Wright Express also provides information management, payment processing, and financial services to fleets through card partnerships with oil companies and fleet management companies. Through its own universal fleet card program, its partners' card programs and its MasterCard program, Wright Express has over four million commercial cards in its markets. Wright Express LLC, a subsidiary of Cendant Corp., employs more than 640 people at its headquarters in South Portland, Maine and its subsidiary in Salt Lake City, Utah.
