Acura sales of 15,058 vehicles set a new record for the month of April according to American Honda Motor Co., Inc. Driven by record demand for the MDX luxury SUV and the strong debut of the all-new TSX sports sedan, April 2003 sales were up 1.9 percent compared to the previous monthly record of 14,203 set in April of 2002, said the company. “Despite some new entries in the segment, the MDX continues to connect with SUV buyers who demand performance, luxury and functionality,” said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, sales. “And while the entry luxury segment is extremely competitive, judging from the initial numbers, the TSX is going to be a strong player in that segment.” MDX sales of 4,720 were up 30.2 percent compared to last year, and eclipsed the previous April record of 3,486 set in 2002. Year-to-date MDX sales climbed to 17,932, a 9.6 percent increase compared to last year. In its first full month of sales, the TSX sold 1,835 units. The Acura NSX supercar also had a strong month, more than doubling the number of units sold compared to last year, according to the company.
