American Honda Motor Co., Inc. says it posted record results for the ninth consecutive month on July sales of 128,433 Honda and Acura vehicles, a new July best and a 9.7 percent rise over last year’s record performance. Year-to-date sales for the company are up 12.8 percent to 797,466 units through the end of July, according to the company. “Consumers continue to flock to the new car market as the economic picture improves,” said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “We’re on track for a record year with minimal incentive spending based on the strength of our product lineup.” Honda Division posted the third best month in its history on record July sales of 112,651 cars and light trucks, a 10.3 percent rise over year-ago results. Year-to-date sales for the brand are up 15.5 percent to 700,316 on the strength of the new Accord and Honda light truck models. Honda light truck sales for the month rose 35.4 percent to 47,738 units, while year-to-date results grew by 39.3 percent over year-ago totals. Odyssey and Pilot recorded best-ever July results while the all-new Element continues to outstrip initial sales projections. Acura Division posted a new July record on sales of 15,782 units, a 5.9 percent increase over last year’s record results. MDX set a new July record with sales of 4,604 units, up 17.5 percent for the month, while the all-new TSX sports sedan posted its best month since its introduction in March, 2003.
