BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Honda Motor Co. may expand its hybrid line with the addition of a gasoline-electric light truck, The Detroit News reported. The automaker is considering developing its fourth hybrid vehicle, as Toyota plans to introduce two hybrid SUVs in 2005. “We haven’t defined yet which vehicle it will be, but it probably will be something on our light-truck line, probably on the SUV side,” Tom Elliott, executive VP of Honda’s U.S. subsidiary, told The Detroit News. Honda’s light truck and SUV line includes the CR-V, Pilot, Element and the Acura MDX. According to The Detroit News, Honda will begin selling a hybrid Accord sedan with a V6 engine and an electric motor in November. Honda’s other gas-electric vehicles include the compact Insight, introduced in 1999 and the Civic, launched in 2002.
