PSA Peugeot-Citroen revealed a new system on Tuesday to reduce emissions and save fuel by allowing drivers to cut their engines when they are not moving, according to a Reuters report.
The system, called Stop & Start, switches a car's engine to stand-by when it stops at a red light or is stuck in traffic. The system immediately re-starts when the driver wants to move.
The system, which will be available in the Citroen C3 car from November, will cut fuel consumption by around 10 percent in urban driving. It could save as much as 15 percent in very heavy traffic, according to Peugeot.
