American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced this week that it will begin limited retail sales in California of its natural gas-powered Civic GX sedan. The sedan will be paired with a new home-refueling appliance called Phill. The Phill appliance, manufactured and marketed by FuelMaker Corporation, is a home refueling appliance that uses an existing home natural gas supply. Phill can be mounted to a garage wall either indoors or outdoors and allow a natural gas-powered vehicle to be refueled overnight directly from a homeowner’s existing natural gas supply line. The 1.7-liter, 4-cylinder Civic GX comes with a continuously variable automatic transmission and has an MSRP of $21,760 plus destination and handling charges. Civic GX buyers can lease Phill through Honda dealers for approximately $34 to $79 per month (plus installation) depending on regional incentive programs. It has a driving range of between 200 and 220 miles. Phill will be available for lease through 17 authorized Honda Civic GX California dealers in San Diego, Los Angeles, Bakersfield, Sacramento and San Francisco.
