During a multi-agency task force operation to find unsafe commercial vehicles, organized by the Mesa, Ariz., Police Department, two truck drivers were arrested on drug-related charges, the Arizona Republic reported. The inspection in Tempe, Ariz., found 304 violations in 73 inspected vehicles. One driver was arrested for suspected marijuana possession, while another was thought to be driving while impaired by a stimulant. A total of 15 vehicles and six drivers were ordered off the roads. Violations included exceeded weight limits and improper brake systems, the report said. In a previous inspection of 42 trucks, 22 were taken off the roadways after 311 violations were uncovered.
