Recent fuel quality testing results prompted the National Biodiesel Board (NBB) to issue a “winter weather advisory” warning, according to Today’s Trucking Online. Approximately one-third of biodiesel samples collected from November 2005 and July 2006, the NBB said, were incompletely processed. In June, to ensure that biodiesel producers meet current standards, NBB board members approved the Fuel Quality Policy that directs them to work alongside state and federal authorities to enforce and regulate biodiesel production. Half of the states have implemented the “ASTM D-6751” specification as a component of their biodiesel quality standards, and more states are expected to adopt it in the future. The NBB has developed a Fuel Quality Enforcement Guide, to help individuals take the appropriate steps when they suspect a company is producing out of spec fuel, Today’s Trucking Online reports. The Guide is available on the NBB Web site, http://www.biodiesel.org/.
