Ford Motor Co.'s Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville has begun production of 2008 Ford Super Duty trucks. Ford has invested $65 million in the plant for a new trim line to assemble the trucks' interior, which features all new materials, standard dual-zone climate control, noise reduction and standard MP3 capable audio systems. The current 2007 Super Duty offers towing capacity of 19,200 lbs. and a payload of 5,800 lbs. The 2008 Super Duty will offer 24,500 lbs. of towing capacity and payload increased to 6,120 lbs. Also for 2008, a new 6.4-liter Power Stroke Diesel engine is available, delivering 350 hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque, and utilizing Ford's Clean Diesel Technology that reduces particulate emissions by 90 percent. The 2008 Super Duty also introduces an optional Tailgate Step, PowerScope power-folding and power-telescoping mirrors, and a stowable bed extender that separates into two pieces that fold and snap securely to the sides of the bed.
