Volvo’s third generation of the XC70 builds upon its past strengths while adding new features to enhance performance as well as comfort. It features an elevated feel and driving dynamics, a 3.2 in-line six-cylinder engine, all-wheel drive and optional Four-C active chassis. The XC70 impressed many in a recent off-road test drive in the Baja of Mexico, and has one many press association awards, including a Best in Class Win at the Texas Truck Rodeo and Best Overall Vehicle of the Rockies. The original XC70, released in 1997, sold better than Volvo anticipated largely based on the vehicle’s “crossover” appeal to U.S. customers. It served the function of an SUV while retaining the feel of a premium car. The current generation of the XC70 has sold over 24,000 in the U.S. The new XC70 will remain similar to its successful predecessors but with improved handling and a more elegant and luxurious look. Also featured in the new model are height-adjustable booster cushions to enhance child safety, a Hill Descent Control feature, and ventilated seats, The XC70 will be unveiled in North America at the New York International Auto Show in April, and U.S. sales will begin in the fourth quarter of 2007.
