Slow Down is an app for GPS-enabled iOS devices that slows a driver's music when he or she is driving faster than the speed limit. The purpose of the app is to help a driver move at a safer (and more legal) speed without shifting his or her eyes from the road.

A driver can launch the Slow Down app on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch (with an added, third-party GPS) and start playing music. With Slow Down, the driver can create a music playlist for his or her drive, and choose a speed limit. While driving, Slow Down uses a vehicle's GPS to work out how fast the driver is going and if he or she exceeds the set speed limit the app slows down the music. If the driver exceeds the speed limit by more than 10km per hour, the music will stop completely until the driver slows down.

The main disadvantage of the app is that drivers can only select three common speed limits: 50kmph, 90kmph, and 120kmph. (For U.S. users that roughly converts to common U.S. speed limits of 30mph, 55mph, and 75mph, respectively.)

Slow Down is a free app and it's available in the iTunes App Store.

Editor's note: This app may be worth it if for no other reason than to hear Christina Aguilera sound like Barry White.
