Chrysler announced that the first Ram 2500 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) pickup trucks began coming off the assembly line at the company’s Satillo, Mexico, assembly plant, on Oct. 29.

The Ram 2500 CNG is a bi-fuel pickup truck that uses natural gas as its primary fuel. The truck will automatically switch to gasoline when the CNG tanks are empty. Chrysler stated that the Ram CNG will transition to gasoline with little difference in operation or capabilities when it does so.

The company also announced it plans to sell the vehicle to retail as well as fleet customers, citing strong demand from dealers.
