Saab Cars USA has announced sales of 3,131 cars for November 2000, a 25 percent increase over November 1999 (2,500 cars). Year-to-date sales of 35,726 units are down 2 percent from the same period in 1999 (36,621). 9-5 Wagon sales should meet the forecast of approximately 5,700 units with year-to-date units currently 5,353 and November wagon sales up 20 percent over last year, according to Saab. The other strong performer in November was the Saab 9-5 Sedan: sales of 1,364 units were up 58 percent over 1999. 9-5 models took 60 percent of the total Saab sales for the month -- 1,890 9-5s versus 1,241 9-3s. This is the third consecutive month that 9-5 numbers have outpaced those of the older 9-3. For the 2001 model year, Saab is introducing some new features to its existing line of vehicles, becoming the first European brand to introduce voice-activated on-board communication services standard in all U.S. models. This system -- the latest generation OnStar --uses wireless technology and voice recognition and text-to-speech technology to provide hands-free security, information and concierge services.
