The Hyperdrive System, unveiled August 1 by the Paice Corp., claims to improve performance, fuel economy, and pollution control for cars and light trucks, according to a system released by the Paice Corp. The system is a gasoline-electric hybrid and can power a car using the gasoline engine, the electric motor, or by using both. A computer runs the system at its best efficiency, according to Dr. Alex Severinsky, Paice's CEO and the system's inventor. "What makes Hyperdrive unique and superior among hybrid powertrains is the use of high-power semi-conductors, high-voltage power, and high-horsepower induction motors in conjunction with efficient use of the internal combustion engine to achieve almost maximum fuel economy," said Severinsky. The company has two existing U.S. patents and others pending internationally. Additional information is available at www.paice.com
