Delphi Automotive Systems Corp., the largest auto-parts maker, has won an order to supply onboard communications gear for Subaru's 2003 model Outback as the Japanese automaker adopts General Motors Corp.'s OnStar service. Delphi will provide systems that include a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and cellular phone for the Outback H6 3.0-liter sedans, according to spokesman Milton Beach. The service alerts emergency personnel when an air bag deploys and can aid drivers who are lost or need directions to restaurants and other destinations. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
