Audi has added its name to the list of automakers developing a hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle, as the automaker introduced the A7 Sportback h-tron quattro concept at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.
An Audi A7 equipped with "piloted driving" technology safely drove Florida Gov. Rick Scott at highway speeds and in bumper-to-bumper traffic during a July 28 demonstration.
Audi challenged eight drivers to drive its new 2014 TDI models, including the Audi A6 TDI, Audi A7 TDI, and Audi Q5 TDI, across the U.S., from Torrance, Calif., to Manhattan in New York City, with a limited number of stops for refueling, to test the fuel economy of the automaker’s vehicles.
Audi detailed the changes to its 2014 model-year vehicles, including the A6, A7, A8 and Q5. For 2014, one major change is that Audi offers TDI clean diesel variants for each of those models.
In terms of availability, the A8 TDI will be available in spring of 2013, and the A7, A6 and Q5 TDI models will be available in fall 2013.
